I don’t want to suggest you should do this at work, not at all, but if you have a moment on the internet without a moment on Second Life, there are a few things you can do that will make your next Second Life session a pure pleasure. (In fact, if you can plan a bit online before you log in, you wind up NOT standing around doing nothing for an hour before you think of something to do.)
Shop at the Marketplace
As this is a newbie guide, I will include this link for you: It finds free items in the order of popularity, no demo items (assuming they’re marked correctly), and no limited quantity items:
Check this out. The stuff you can find here is AMAZING.
By the way, this is not a JUNK nor the DEMO category; this is a PROMO category. BIG difference. You can grab this stuff and have it waiting for you next time you log in.
Second Life Destinations Guide
You may already know of this, but if you don’t, check out the Second Life destinations guide. You can review places you want to visit before you go there hopping around aimlessly. These are Linden Labs reviewed locations and categorized carefully, unlike my next suggestion:
Second Life Places
Second Life Places is similar to the Destination Guide but includes ALL parcels that a listed for search by the parcel owner. Not just those someone has suggested for the Destinations Guide. This can sometimes yeld to such awesome discoveries – the Destinations Guide can be a little boring in some ways; a bit too serious, but Places includes quirky, weird places that you’d never see in the Destinations Guide.
Plan for a shopping spree?
I am not much of a shopper in real life; in fact, the shirt I’m wearing at the moment is at least 10 years old and looks it, but on Second Life, I can’t get enough. The Linden-to-pleasure ratio is sooo much better than it is when real-life shopping. So. How about you hit the sales the next time you log in?
Second Life educators and influencers on YouTube
Finally, you could also spend a moment watching YouTube videos about Second Life. There’s plenty of stuff to learn and browsing videos simply by searching Second Life will probably bring up some surprising things you could do once you get there – from creating to just hanging out.
