Doing It on Second Life – Part 4, (Peer) Pressure

There are certain things that Second Life -users like to pressure you into liking and disliking when it comes to Second Life sex. I am not sure if this is a newbie thing because I haven’t experienced this for a while. There’s a good chance my profile has that seasoned veteran “fuck off with your idiotic ideas” twang to it by now, which explains why I don’t feel as pressured into things as I used to at the time of first writing this post. (I am editing this about 3 years later.)

POSE BALLING vs. ROLE PLAYING (RP)

One of those things is “pose balling” vs. “role-playing.” Now… It’s nobody’s business how you like your SL sex, as long as you have it with people who feel similarly about it.

It is much frowned upon to “be a pose baller” and admirable to be “a role player” or “an emoter,” but to each their own. I’m personally a bit of a pose baller myself and prefer highly detailed mesh avatars with people who like to meticulously align the avatar parts to the perfect erotic display – as opposed to people in system avatars getting it on with hardly aligning glitching avatars patching it up with shoddily written scenarios.

I mean I like emoting… But at times, it’s just nicer to watch animations and imagine the rest. It is a mood thing, really. Having said that, as I’ve gotten more used to emoting, I forget I’m actually doing it and reading the emoting of other players.

Still, if I want text, I’ll Google it, right? If looks don’t matter, I’ll join Adult Friend Finder. On Second Life, I get the looks, just not the touch, like a Shania Twain song, but I don’t personally get much into it with a balloon-like system avatar whose ‘agent’ wants me to feel excited about the mere concept of being with a man.

But whatever you’re into is your business. Good emoters do exist; oddly enough, many of them are not English speakers, but as far as I’m concerned, the visuals must be en pointe, regardless of emoting skills.

“I JUST WANT TO HEAR YOUR VOICE” -thing.

Some men genuinely want to hear a woman’s voice just to make sure she’s actually a female. Then some want to get you to do voice, under that excuse, and then gradually make women perform nude on skype for them. You choose what you think about that.

“I’m SURE YOU’RE A MAN.”

Another thing men do, not commonly, tho, insists they know you’re a man, probably in the attempt of making you strip naked in front of a webcam to “prove to them” you’re female. Perhaps best not to fall for that one.

Newbie avatar & newbie profile…?

I noticed when I was a fresh newbie with a system avatar that men were all over me, surprisingly. This feels a little controversial, I know, but I figure when you’re new, you’re also… Easier to influence.

Never mind, you’re an adult, enjoy the attention if it’s coming your way and keep in mind there’s plenty of variety on Second Life and there’s no need to learn to like the first thing on it, there’s always something else out there.
