Using the elevator

When you first come on Second Life, your default camera view is way back above your head. That makes it difficult for you to fit into small spaces such as an elevator.

However, you can adjust your camera position from the eye icon. This will open your camera settings. Now, click “position” from the tool bar opening, and tinker with the settings when you get a nice view close behind your avatar, so you can still see where you’re going and see buttons and everything you need.

You can save this camera position by giving it a name.

You can also replace the 3 default positions for something much more usable. By default, they’re front view, side view (which I think is completely useless), and rear view, which is a must. I would definitely adjust my rear view to perfection and comfort as soon as possible.

Using the elevator itself.

The elevator works perfectly as in real life.

  1. Call the elevator, and wait until the doors open. Walk in.
  2. Push the floor button and wait until you’re let out again.
