The Group Tags on Second Life have a lot of uses. Mainly, they protect assets from outsiders while giving insiders the access and permissions that they wouldn’t otherwise have.
You can only have one tag active at any given time. Each group can have sub roles for different types of users, such as sim owners, managers, VIP-customers, and everybody else. Groups can be invite only, paid, or free-to-join.
The group tags are located either in the “communication” windows on Second Life viewer or under a separate button on Firestorm. The Firestorm group tag button looks like a.. tag.
The drawback of groups is that some of them send A LOT of notifications to the members. You can turn off notifications and group chats in the group settings.
